Happy Holidays Warriors' Families!

Now that 2010 is just around the corner, the preseason training is about to kick things up a notch! Our Warriors' players will be practicing at both Junior Diggins and The Megaplex in Homer Glen, focusing on different drills and skills at each.  While many players continue to have winter sports/events other than baseball during these months, it is critical that our players attend as many of these workout sessions as they can.  As always, please notify Coach Tim if your player is unable to attend any of these sessions so he can arrange the workouts accordingly.

2010 Practice Schedule Now Available!

Our 2010 Practice Schedule is posted!! The Megaplex schedule is up and on the OYA website.  You can click on the title above to go directly to our team schedule page.  The Megaplex is located at 15301 S Bell Road, Homer Glen. Our first practice is January 2nd at 9:30am - 10:30am. We will be alternating time slots between 9:30am start and 10:30am start.

All Warriors' players should wear their red practice jersey and hat to all the practices. (They must wear a cup). Do not wear shorts to practice as there may be diving or sliding and Coach Tim doesn't want anyone getting burns from the carpet. Please do not be late, arrive at least 5-10 minutes early so we can start as soon as the other teams leave the field. Consider the weather conditions and give yourself enough time to get to the complex.

These pracitces are extremely important so please do your best not miss one. This is the only real practice (13 in all) we will get before games start in April and our team will be learning all we need to know to play well and succeed.  These practices serve not only to strengthen the players' throwing arms but to also understand game situations and practice them enought so they are prepared to handle the same situation in a real game. These practices will also provide time for all boys interested in pitching to get pitching practice in. This is extremely important and will help the players be prepared once games get under way.

Coach Tim realizes that a few have other commitents that may conflict with the practice times. Please, if you can, try to work out your personal schedule so that your son can make all of the practices. Coach Tim tried to do his part to eliminate conflicts, that is why we decided to have an alternating schedule. This way, if you still have a conflict, your son will only miss 1/2 of the practices and not all of them.

Because some players still have other sport commitments, please know that no player will be penalized in any way for missing practice, but as always, please give Coach Tim notice if a player will not be attending.  AND...Don't forget, practices are still being held at Junior Diggins.  January 2010 Schedule:

Batting Practice Going Strong!

Our Warriors' Batting Practice has been going strong at Junior Diggins!  Keep in mind that these are not mandatory practices as many of the players have other commitments this time of year; however, Coach Tim does have the ability to rearrange the practice if a limited number of players are able to participate--so please email Coach Tim if your player is NOT able to attend one of these batting practice sessions!

Batting Practice Change this Week: 11/10 CANCELLED

Our Batting Practice at Junior Diggins on November 10th has been changed to FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13th, from 6:00-7:00pm.  In addition, Coach Tim has put together a great Team Contact list that will be emailed to all families later today.  This contact list also has a map included to assist with possible carpooling needs any family might have.  Please consider calling a fellow team family if you have any challenges in getting your player to or from a practice!  We can all help each other out along the way!

Practice Season Is Here...from Coach Tim

Our 2010 practice season officially starts Tuesday, November 10, 6-7pm at Junior Diggins. We will have 2 cages for the hour so we should get plenty of hitting time in. These practice times are optionally, but we are paying for them just the same, so I encourage you to take advantage of the times set aside for us whenever you can. Whether your son attends or not, I do need you to confirm each week if your son will be attending. I will send out reminders each week via email and ask for you confirmation.

I realize all of you have other committments that may conflict with this schedule; that's fine just remember it is optional. One thing I would like to work out is to avoid missing a practice for the sole reason that you don't have transportation to get your player there. If you need a ride, there or back, please ask a fellow teammate who lives nearby. A few of the boys live in my neighborhood and parents have asked me to give their son a ride. If we all help each other out and car pool when we can, the committment won't feel so burdensome.

The cage time can be converted to pitching practice if several of our players don't show up. I would like to plan for that contingency if I can, so I would appreciate it if you can respond and let me know if you son will be attending on the 10th. Below is a list of our Junior Diggins Pre-Season Practice times only. These are 18 scheduled times from November thru March. We will be starting indoor practice at Homer Megaplex in January. Times to be announced at a later date. Our Junior Diggins times are listed below the directions to the facility. Planning Ahead...from Coach Tim

I want to thank all of the parents for getting me their deposits and the birth ceritificates. It was a shame we only got one game in before winter, but I was glad to see the turnout and desire we have on the team to play baseball.

Looking ahead, I will be getting a notice from OYA to sign up for winter batting times. I will keep you posted.

With everyones deposit received, each of you only have $300 more to pay. I thought it might be easy on your pocketbook if you pay the remainder amount in 3 installments of $100. Please plan on paying OYA $100 on 11/15/2009, 12/15/2009 and 1/15/2010.  I will send out more instructions soon...I just wanted to put a bug in everyone's ear so you can begin to plan ahead. I'm hoping batting practice will start in early November so I can plan some dates around the 15th when I can collect payments.

Scrimmage Games Cancelled

This weekend's scrimmage game has been cancelled due to the forecast for Sunday morning.  We certainly haven't seen the Indian Summer usually expected this time of year! That was our last scheduled practice game until next year. Coach Tim will be sending out emails with our indoor schedule soon. Hitting starts in November! 

Warriors Plan Fall Scrimmages

Our Warriors team has three scrimmage games scheduled in the next few weeks.  These games will provide the coaches with the opportunity to assess each of the players strengths and opportunities as we enter the fall and winter training season.  It is also a great opportunity for the players to get to know one another better!

The first game is scheduled against the Magic B team and will be held this Sunday, September 27th at 9:00 am at Centennial 5.  Please arrive by 8:15 to loosen up and run through some drills.  The next two games will be against our fellow-Warriors 13/14U team on Sunday, October 4th at 9:30 am at Eagle Ridge II; and Sunday, October 11th at 9:30 am at Centennial #5.  For each game, please have your player at the field at least 45 minutes before gametime to warm up.  In addition, all players should bring their equipment--including all protective gear!

First Practice Game Scheduled--9/27 @ 9am!

Our Warriors team will throw its first pitch to the Magic B team on Sunday, September 27th at 9:00am on Centennial 5.  All players should arrive by 8:15am to warm up before the game.  This game will be good for both the coaches and the players to see how they size up with a full time travel team. We should be done by 11:00am for those playing football, but if you need to leave early just let Coach Tim know.  Please be sure all players bring all their equipment, including protective gear!  GO WARRIORS!!
